1. Download the App
Download Dimmy from the App Store.⚠️ Dimensioning module requires a compatible device:
- iPad Pro (2020+), iPhone Pro (V13+)
- Zebra TC58 with ToF sensors
Don’t have a compatible device? No problem. You can still use all other modules like AI vision scanning, digital checklists, photo capture, on any device.
2. Create an Account
- Sign up on our Free Trial Sign-Up page.
- Once registered, you’ll get full access to the web application, where you can view, manage, and download all your data.
3. Review the User Manual
Before scanning, review the user manual for a full overview of the solutions capabilites. Ensure successful, high-quality results. This helps reduce errors and improves scan reliability—especially for dimensioning.
Golden Rules of Dimensioning
1. Boxes & SKUs - Best Practices
- Hold still while scanning
- Scan from the top, so the device is parallel with the surface.
- There has to be a distance from the device to the object of at least 15-20cm.
- The object cannot take the entire width of the screen when scanning, at most 95% of the screen width can be the object, the rest should be margin.
- Transparent objects might not always work very well as the dimensioning uses laser.
- To determine the height correctly, there needs to be enough "material" at the highest point. This means that for hollow objects such as cups, they need to be placed with the hollow part down.
- You can use the handlebars drawn on the green bounding box to make manual adjustments.
2. Pallet Dimensioning Guidelines
Take a minimum of 2 scans of the pallet from different sides. If any part remains outside the bounding box, tap it until the entire pallet is enclosed. Feel free to tap multiple times until it fits.
- Initial Positioning: Stand directly in front of the pallet with the entire pallet visible in the camera view of your device, then tap the pallet to begin the dimensioning.
- Alternate View: Move to the side of the pallet and tap the pallet again, ensuring that this time only the far end of the pallet is as clear as possible in your device's camera view.
- Adjust for Overhang (Optional): If there is any part of the pallet that extends beyond the green bounding box on your screen (overhang), you need to move your position around this overhang and tap on it until the green bounding box correctly encloses the entire pallet. You can keep on tapping.
- Manual Adjustment (Optional): You have the option to manually adjust the green bounding box if needed to ensure it accurately fits the dimensions of the pallet.
- Stability While Tapping: It's important to keep the device steady while tapping the screen to ensure accurate measurement.
